BHEL Seeks Technology Tie-up for 155 mm / 52 Caliber Mounted GunSystem!

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has initiated an Expression of Interest (El) with the aim of establishing a technology tie-up for the 155 mm / 52 Caliber Mounted Gun System (MGS). This strategic move underscores BHEL's steadfast commitment to fortifying India's defense infrastructure through collaborative ventures that foster homegrown technological innovation and self-sufficiency.

The Expression of Interest extends an invitation to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) willing to partake in a Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA) alongside BHEL. The overarching goal of this joint effort is to collectively conceptualize, develop, engineer, manufacture, assemble, test, integrate, commission, maintain, operate, repair, retrofit, troubleshoot, and ultimately market the 155 mm / 52 Caliber Mounted Gun System (MGS).

Responding to the articulated requisites of the Indian Army and the Ministry of Defence, which seek a 155 mm / 52 Caliber Mounted Gun System (MGS), BHEL aligns its approach with the "Buy (Indian-IDDM)" category of the Defense Acquisition Policy (DAP). This classification underscores the primacy of indigenous design, development, and manufacturing, prescribing a minimum of 50% Indigenous Content (IC) on a cost basis.

In pursuit of this pivotal mandate, BHEL beckons prospective collaborators to embark on a lasting Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA). This collaboration holds the potential for the transfer of pertinent Intellectual Property rights (IPR), if required, to facilitate the comprehensive lifecycle of the 155 mm / 52 Caliber Mounted Gun System (MGS). BHEL envisions a dynamic engagement with these partners, encompassing diverse stages of development ranging from design and engineering to manufacturing, testing, integration, commissioning, operation, maintenance, repair, retrofitting, and servicing.
