ISRO's Leap into the Future: The Revolutionary Additive Manufacturing of the PS4 Engine

On May 9th, 2024, ISRO successfully completed the hot testing of its liquid rocket engine, manufactured using cutting-edge Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology, for a remarkable duration of 665 seconds. The engine in the spotlight is the PS4, the powerhouse of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle's (PSLV) upper stage. Moreover, the overall production time has seen a drastic reduction of 60%. Such efficiency is crucial in a field where time is as valuable as the payload itself.
