The 100th Medium Range Surface to Air Missile Kit was released today by Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Pvt Ltd (KRAS) for delivery to the Indian Armed Forces. The kit is a component of the MRSAM Air Defence Missile, which Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. and the DRDO jointly developed. MSMEs and other private and public sector companies in India worked together to build the missile. The IAF receives the first fire unit at Air Station Jaisalmer on September 9, 2021, immediately after which the 100th MRSAM Missile Kit is delivered.
Senior officers of the Indian Armed Forces received the 100th MRSAM Missile Kit from Dr. BHVS Narayana Murthy, Distinguished Scientist and Director General Missiles & Strategic Systems, in the presence of Mr. Baba N. Kalyani, Chairman, and Managing Director, Bharat Forge Ltd., and Maj. Gen. (Ret.) YoavHar-Even, President & CEO, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd., Israel.
The Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd., Mr. Baba N Kalyani, spoke at the historic event and said, "KRAS is happy to speed the delivery of the 100th MRSAM Missile Kit for the Indian Armed Forces. This delivery furthers our commitment to AatmaNirbhar Bharat as envisioned by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and serves as a brilliant example of collaboration between India and Israel, as well as the private and public sectors. Along with the missile kits, he continued, "We will also extend our support to the Armed Forces in Maintenance and Repair Operations of In Service Air Defence Missile Systems."
President & CEO Rafael Major General Retd YoavHar-Even praised the collaborative efforts of all programme participants throughout his speech. We have been a dependable partner to the Indian Armed Forces for almost three decades, and these missile kits are a testament to our dedication to AatmaNirbhar Bharat, he said. Additionally, he said that the fact that KRAS is a joint venture is evidence of the improved strategic defence collaboration between Israel and India because it combines Rafael technology with the Kalyani Group's engineering prowess.
Senior DRDO and military officers also attended the event.
